Background

Training built over a career

Dr. Koh trained at UCLA and USC, worked as a staff physical therapist at UCLA Medical Center, and completed an orthopedic residency before founding his own practice. Since then he has kept adding to his training, much of it in hands-on techniques.

This page describes his individual experience. For the full list of services offered by the clinic, see physical therapy services at KOH Physical Therapy Lab (opens in a new tab).

Sports & Orthopedic Rehabilitation

The core of Dr. Koh's practice. He completed an Orthopedic Residency Program with Kaiser Permanente and has worked with athletes from high school through Olympic and professional competition, as well as with people recovering from surgery and everyday orthopedic injuries.

Manual Therapy

Soft tissue mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and joint mobilization. He is certified in Fascial Manipulation, is a certified Graston Technique provider, and draws on treatment approaches from several countries that fall within the scope of physical therapy practice.

Specialty & Complex Conditions

Board certification as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist, experience in cardiac and neurological rehabilitation, and work in pelvic health give him a wide frame of reference when a presentation has more than one contributing cause.

Movement & Strength Conditioning

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, a certified Russian Kettlebell Instructor and a USA Weightlifting certified coach. He applies exercise science both in rehabilitation and in preparing athletes to perform.

Advanced Clinical Training

Continued study is a constant in his career, including training in spinal fascial stretching, myofascial stretching and fascial normalization techniques, and certification in Functional Movement Screening and Blood Flow Restriction exercise.

Treatment techniques

Techniques and certifications

These are methods Dr. Koh is trained or certified in. Which of them is appropriate depends on the person, the diagnosis and the stage of recovery, so not every technique is used with every patient.
